WCC Tournament TV Coverage Expanded
Jan. 5, 2005
SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference and ESPN, Inc. have announced three additional broadcasts will be added to the slate of contests televised during the 2005 WCC men's basketball championship, brining to five the number of tournament games to be aired on ESPN's family of networks.
"We're excited about ESPN expanding their coverage of the WCC's premier event," said Associate Commissioner Brad Walker. "The additional television exposure gives our basketball programs, coaches and the league the opportunity to shine on a national stage. Our hope is to continue to build on the strong relationship between ESPN and the West Coast Conference."
The WCC's tournament television package will tip-off with two early round games broadcast on ESPN's new college specific station, ESPNU. ESPNU will launch on Friday, March 4, 2005, (03-04-05), highlighting several games from around the country during ESPN's annual "Championship Week".
For the first time in WCC history, both men's semifinals will be televised live. ESPN2 will televise the first semifinal, while the second semifinal and the championship game will be broadcast live on ESPN.
Game times for the first and second rounds have been adjusted to accommodate television coverage. Early first and second round games will now begin at 5:30 p.m. (PT), while the late games will tip-off at 8 p.m. (PT).
