Morrison WCC Player Of Month

Jan. 5, 2005

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University sophomore forward Adam Morrison turned in a spectacular first month of the 2004-05 season, leading the Bulldogs to three wins over ranked opponents during December to earn him the West Coast Conference Player of the Month nod.

Morrison, a native of Spokane, averaged a team-leading 19.8 ppg, grabbed 5.6 rpg and shot 51.8 percent from the field en route to leading the Zags to a 7-1 record during the month.

Morrison started the month by tossing in a career-high 26 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the Zags' 99-87 win over then No. 14 University of Washington. Morrison followed that performance with a 20-point, nine-rebound effort in GU's 68-57 win over the University of Massachusetts. Later in the month, Morrison played an integral part in Gonzaga's upset wins over Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State University, both of which were undefeated and ranked No. 3 at the time. In the Bulldogs' 85-73 win over the Yellow Jackets, Morrison connected on 11-of-18 shots from the field for a team-high 24 points. In GU's 78-75 win over the Cowboys, Morrison scored 19 points and handed out four assists.

Gonzaga opens WCC play Thursday at Santa Clara University in an 8 p.m. contest to be televised on ESPN2 and Saturday at Saint Mary's College in a 7 p.m. game on Fox Sports Net.
