Jan. 6, 2002
Gonzaga University moved up four spots to 18th Sunday in the latest USA TODAY/ESPN Top 25 men's basketball poll.
Duke University remained the unanimous No. 1 with all 31 first-place votes, the voting done prior to Duke's 77-76 loss at Florida State University Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs reached their highest regular-season ranking in school history in either major poll with Sunday's balloting. Gonzaga was 22nd for the past two weeks in both major polls, the previous regular-season best for the Bulldogs. The Associated Press Top 25 will be released Monday.
The Bulldogs put their ranking on the line Monday night in a nationally televised game at the University of New Mexico. Tipoff is 9 p.m. PST in ESPN's first Big Monday telecast of the season.
