Calvary Sidelined, Dench Probable For Men's Basketball Game Saturday
Jan. 7, 2000
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University junior forward Casey Calvary will miss Saturday's men's basketball game against the University of Texas-Pan American after spraining his right ankle in the waning minutes of Tuesday's contest at the University of Idaho.
Calvary, who missed one game last season with a sprained ankle, had a MRI which did not reveal any breaks. He is averaging 12.1 ppg, 6.3 rpg and 1.6 blocks/game.
Center Axel Dench, who missed Tuesday's game at Idaho after suffering a strained right calf muscle early in the Bulldogs' Dec. 30 game against the University of Colorado, is listed as probable for Saturday. Dench is averaging 6.9 ppg and 4.8 rpg.
The Bulldogs (9-5) have their final tune-up prior to the start of
West Coast Conference play with Saturday's contest against the Broncs, who
have lost 63 straight road games following Thursday's 89-70 setback at
Colorado State University. The last road win for UTPA was at Lamar
University during the 1994-95 season.
