Gonzaga-Santa Clara Game Time Changed
Jan. 7, 2004
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's basketball game Feb. 28 against Santa Clara University - the final game in The Kennel - has been changed to a 6 p.m. start.
ESPN2 requested the television rights to the game earlier this winter and had been scheduled for an afternoon start. The network has since decided to televise the game nationally rather than regionally and requested the time change to 6 p.m.
"This is another great opportunity for exposure," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "Gonzaga, Santa Clara and the West Coast Conference were happy to honor the request of ESPN2 to get this game nationally televised. The Gonzaga-Santa Clara rivalry has long been one of the best rivalries in the WCC, and some of the greatest moments in The Kennel have involved Santa Clara. To showcase this event to a national television audience is another positive for all of us in the WCC."
Gonzaga will begin play in its new Arena next season.
