Stepp Named WCC Player of Week

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University guard Blake Stepp has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week for helping the Bulldogs to a sweep of their WCC openers last week over Loyola Marymount University and Pepperdine University.

The junior from Eugene, Ore., scored 21 points and handed out 9 assists against LMU, then scored 16 points and had 10 assists in Sunday's showdown with pre-season co-favorite Pepperdine.

Stepp connected on 13-of-26 shots from the field, including 8-of-17 from 3-point range. He also had a pair of steals, and committed just two turnovers in 74 minutes in the two games.

The Bulldogs topped LMU 85-73 and Pepperdine 92-72 to open WCC play 2-0 for the seventh straight season.
