Bulldogs Move Back Into The Men's Basketball Top 10

McLEAN, Va. - Gonzaga is back in the Top 10.

The Bulldogs, 14-3 overall and riding a six-game winning streak, are 10th in this week's ESPN/USA Today men's basketball rankings. The Bulldogs defeated Saint Mary's and San Diego last week to move their West Coast Conference record to 3-0, all three wins coming on the road.

The Bulldogs were 10th last season in the final regular-season poll, then finished 13th in the final balloting following the NCAA Tournament which saw the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

The top five of the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 remained unchanged, with unbeatens No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Kentucky leading the way.

The Longhorns (17-0) received 30 of 31 first-place votes in the poll, released Monday. The Wildcats (18-0) received the remaining first-place vote from the panel of 31 Division I coaches.

No. 3 Kansas, No. 4 Villanova and No. 5 Syracuse remained in the same positions as last week as well.

Duke, Michigan State, Tennessee, Kansas State joined Gonzaga to round out the top 10.

North Carolina was the biggest mover in the poll, plummeting 10 spots to No. 23 thanks to losses at No. 16 Clemson and at home to No. 18 Georgia Tech last week. Clemson climbed three spots in the poll.

Purdue and Pittsburgh also made dramatic moves in the poll, albeit in opposite directions.

Purdue, which was ranked No. 6 last week, plunged nine spots to No. 15 after losses to No. 25 Ohio State and Northwestern. The Boilermakers have lost three in a row.

Pittsburgh, meanwhile, jumped nine spots to No. 11, thanks to a pair of Big East wins over No. 21 Connecticut and Louisville. The Huskies fell six spots from No. 15.

Entering the poll this week were Ohio State and No. 22 Northern Iowa. Falling out were previous No. 24 Baylor and former No. 25 Florida State.
