Jan. 21, 2011

SPOKANE, Wash. - A new radio station will join the Gonzaga University men's basketball network beginning with the Bulldogs 5 p.m. game Saturday at the University of San Francisco.

ESPN 960 KALE will become the latest member of the Gonzaga radio network family. Kris Kassel, general manager of IM College, Gonzaga's multi-media rights holder, announced Friday.

"We're excited to add KALE and the Tri-Cities market to the Gonzaga Radio Network," Kassel said. "We hope Gonzaga fans in the Tri-Cities will enjoy the expanded programming opportunities to follow the Zags. The Tri-Cities is an important market for us and we're happy to make KALE our new home for the Zags in the area. We look forward to additional announcements in the future as we continue to expand the footprint of the Gonzaga Radio Network."

KALE joins flagship station 1510 KGA in Spokane and ESPN 1490 Walla Walla as part of the network.

"We're looking forward to adding the Zags to our lineup," Frank Jackson, operations manager for New Northwest Broadcasters, said. "The Tri-Cities have a large Gonzaga following and fans will be excited for the programming Gonzaga offers and the opportunity to follow the Zags more closely."

Programming on KALE will include all remaining men's basketball games with the network pre-game show beginning twenty minutes prior to tipoff, the Mark Few Show every Monday at noon and daily reports which include up-to-date news on the Bulldogs as well as a look at Bulldog traditions.
