Men's Basketball Sold Out This Weekend
Jan. 23, 2001
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's West Coast Conference men's basketball games Thursday against Santa Clara University and Saturday against the University of San Diego are both sold out, according to Bulldogs athletic director Mike Roth.
But both games will be televised in the Spokane area through the efforts of GUTV.
"The remainder of our student/staff/faculty tickets were distributed Tuesday afternoon," Roth said of the tickets available to GU students, staff and faculty in a ticket allocation system implemented at the start of the current season.
As a result of the Gonzaga community picking up their allotted tickets, no tickets will be placed on sale to the general public.
However, Roth said GUTV (Channel 15 on the AT&T Broadband cable system in Spokane) will televise both games.
"We're delighted GUTV, under the direction of Fr. Don Highberger, S.J., has decided to air both of these games," Roth said. "Fr. Highberger realizes the community-wide interest in Bulldog basketball, and is excited about the opportunity GUTV and his students have to provide these games within the Spokane area."
Fr. Highberger is an associate professor of communications arts in the broadcasting curriculum who oversees GUTV, Gonzaga's student-run station.
Gametime both nights is 7 p.m. PST. There will be no satellite availability for the two games. The games can also be heard on this Internet site, as well as in Spokane on ESPN 630 AM The Score.
