Gonzaga, Illinois Tied For 7th In Coaches Poll

BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - After a Saturday when the final three remaining unbeaten teams were knocked off, including No.

1 Duke, there is a new team atop the latest USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll released Monday.

Duke (17-1) suffered an 87-84 loss to Georgetown on Saturday, opening the door for Connecticut (16-1), which beat ranked teams Syracuse and Louisville last week.

The Huskies collected 19 first-place votes and 751 points, while the Blue Devils picked up 748 points and 10 first-place votes.

Memphis (17-2) is third and Florida (17-1), which fell for the first time, 80-76, to Tennessee, dropped two spots. Texas (16-2) is fifth.

The second five begins with Villanova (13-2) and a tie for seventh between Gonzaga (15-3) and llinois (17-2). Washington (16-2) is ninth and Pittsburgh (15-1) drops one spot to 10th after its first loss, 55-50, against St. John's on Saturday.

Indiana (12-3) and Michigan State (15-4) remain 11th and 12th, respectively, while West Virginia moved up four slots to No. 13 and is followed by North Carolina State (15-3) and George Washington (14-1).

Ohio State (14-2) is 16th, followed by UCLA (15-4), Boston College (14-4) and Maryland (13-4). Tennessee (12-3) joined the poll at No. 20 after its stunning win over the Gators.

Wisconsin (14-4) dropped eight spots to No. 21 after losses to Ohio State and North Dakota State. Oklahoma (11-4) is 22nd, followed by Louisville (13-5), Syracuse (15-4) and North Carolina (11-4).

Iowa dropped out of the rankings.
