Gonzaga 10th In Both Major Polls

Jan 26, 2004

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University jumped five spots in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 to move back into the Top 10 in the latest men's college basketball polls, the Bulldogs garnering 10th in each poll.

The Bulldogs were 10th in the AP pre-season poll this year, then fell out of the Top 10 after a season-opening loss to Saint Joseph's University. Gonzaga finished the 2002 season ranked sixth by AP, the highest AP ranking ever for the Bulldogs. Gonzaga made its highest appearance in the USA Today/ESPN rankings since being ranked sixth on March 10, 2002, the final regular-season poll of the season. That was the fifth straight week for the Bulldogs in the Top 10, Gonzaga finishing 16th in the final 2002 USA Today/ESPN Top 25.

The top three teams in both polls remained the same with Duke University heading the list followed by the only two remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division I - Stanford University and Saint Joseph's University, the latter the only two schools to blemish Gonzaga's 15-2 record.
