Kelly Olynyk Named To Academic All-District 8 Squad
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University junior Kelly Olynyk added another honor Thursday, but this one for his efforts off the court and in the classroom.
The native of Kamloops, British Columbia, was named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District 8 team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He graduated in December with a 3.53 GPA in accounting and is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Gonzaga.
Olynyk is averaging 18.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg and is shooting 65.8 percent from the field (123-for-187) which ranks fourth in the latest NCAA statistics.
Three other West Coast Conference players were named to the team - Marc Trasolini of Santa Clara University, Matthew Dellavedova of Saint Mary's College and Cody Doolin of the University of San Francisco. Holton Hunsaker of Utah Valley University was the fifth member of the team.
The names of the District winners will be placed on the national ballot for consideration for the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America team.
