Pargo Named WCC Player Of Month

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University sophomore guard Jeremy Pargo has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Month for January, WCC Commissioner Michael Gilleran announced today. Pargo averaged 13.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 5.8 assists/game as Gonzaga went 7-2 for the month and 6-1 in WCC play to gain sole possession of first place. The native of Chicago shot 46.9 percent from the field (38-81), 38.5 percent from 3-point range (5-for-13) and 81.3 percent from the line (39-for-48). He set career highs in points (22 against San Francisco and then broke that career high with 23 at No. 23 Stanford to end the month), rebounds with 10 against Pepperdine and assists with 11 against San Francisco. Against USF he had a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists. Pargo capped the month by scoring 11 points in second overtime Wednesday at Stanford to give the Bulldogs a 90-86 double-overtime win in a game they trailed 19-5. He went 7-for-13 from the field against Stanford and 9-for-13 from the line on his way to his career-high 23 points. He had eight double-digit scoring games for the month, including the final six; had 5 or more assists in seven games, and 4 or more rebounds in seven games.
