Heytvelt, Davis Suspended

Feb. 10, 2007

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University sophomore forward Josh Heytvelt and freshman forward Theo Davis have been suspended indefinitely for violation of team policy.

Heytvelt, from Clarkston, Wash., has started 22 of Gonzaga's 25 games this season, averaging 15.5 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 1.7 blocked shots/game. Davis, from Brampton, Ontario, is redshirting following shoulder surgery in October.

"I am shocked and disappointed," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said prior to Saturday's home game against Saint Mary's College. "We regret the far-reaching effect this has on our program and the university."

"I was saddened to learn of the allegations against Josh Heytvelt and Theo Davis. I have met with Mike Patterson, chairman of the Board of Trustees, head coach Mark Few and athletic director Mike Roth, and we take these allegations very seriously. We will follow up by applying the same rules and procedures that would be applied to any other student," Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J., Gonzaga University president, said.
