Bulldogs Home For Final Two Times In 2014 Basketball Season
SPOKANE, Wash. - Having stepped out of West Coast Conference play last Saturday at the University of Memphis for ESPN’s College GameDay, Gonzaga University turns its attention to putting the wraps on a WCC regular-season title.
Gonzaga hosts Pepperdine Thursday and Loyola Marymount Saturday in the final two home games for the Bulldogs, who are currently three games up in the loss column with six games to play.
Gonzaga (11-1) could claim no worse than a tie for the West Coast Conference title this weekend, but the Bulldogs will need a little help. BYU (9-4) and Saint Mary’s (8-4) meet Saturday meaning at least one of them will have five losses. But if Saturday’s BYU-SMC winner would have lost Thursday it would leave everybody with at least five WCC loses following the weekend. Gonzaga, naturally, would have to win twice this week for that scenario to become a reality.
Gonzaga has won 26 straight West Coast Conference home games dating back to Jan. 27, 2011, when Saint Mary’s won 73-71.
