Zags Back In AP Top 25, Jump Two Spots In USA Today Poll
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University’s men’s basketball team is back in the Associated Press Top 25, and the Bulldogs jumped two spots in the USA Today rankings Monday.
The Bulldogs fell out of the AP rankings for one week following a Feb. 8 setback at the University of Memphis, but a pair of home wins this past week that clinched no worse than a share of the West Coast Conference saw the Bulldogs jump back in at No. 25.
Gonzaga jumped to No. 22 in the USA Today voting of coaches after being No. 24 a week ago.
Gonzaga (23-4; 13-1) is four games ahead of three schools in the loss column with four games remaining. BYU (10-5), Saint Mary’s College (9-5) and the University of San Francisco (9-5) are the only teams within striking range of the Zags.
The schedule sees Gonzaga playing its final four WCC games on the road beginning with Thursday’s game at BYU and a Saturday contest at the University of San Diego. Thursday’s game has been changed to an 8 p.m. PST tip and will be televised on ESPN2. Saturday’s game is at 9 p.m. PST and will also air on ESPN2.
All Gonzaga games can also be heard on the IMG Gonzaga Radio Network, including flagship station 1510 KGA CBS Sports Radio.
Syracuse University still tops both polls, but it is no longer a unanimous No. 1 in the AP rankings as the University of Florida moved into the second spot and picked up one first-place vote. The Orange (25-0), who won two games in the final seconds last week, received all 32 first-place votes in the USA Today balloting.
