Bulldogs Get Another Chance To Claim WCC Title Outright
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Gonzaga University’s men’s basketball team gets another chance to clinch the West Coast Conference title outright when the Bulldogs face the University of San Diego Saturday.
Game time is 9 p.m. PST Saturday and will be televised on ESPN2 and aired on the IMG Gonzaga Basketball Network including flagship station 1510 KGA CBS Sports Radio in Spokane.
The Bulldogs, who claimed no worse than a tie for the title last weekend, had their title celebration put on hold Thursday when BYU took a 73-65 decision.
One Gonzaga win in the next three games gives the Bulldogs the regular-season title outright. A loss by both BYU and San Francisco also gives the crown to the Zags.
Looking ahead to the West Coast Conference Championship as teams battle for seeding, No. 1 will play the winner of the No. 8 vs. No. 9 play-in game, while the No. 2 seed will play the winner of the No. 7 vs. No. 10 play-in. No. 3 will face No. 6 and No. 4 will play No. 5 in the other quarterfinal matchups.
The Toreros are coached by former longtime Gonzaga assistant coach Bill Grier, who is in his seventh season at the helm of USD.
