Gonzaga, Syracuse Tied For 13th

BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - A pair of powerhouses remain atop of a shuffled USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll released Monday.

Illinois (28-0) remained the clear-cut No. 1 - garnering all 31 first-place votes and 775 points, while North Carolina (24-3) maintained its hold on the No. 2 spot with 742 points.

Kentucky (22-3) and Wake Forest (24-4) each moved up two spots to third and fourth, respectively. Boston College (23-2) dropped two spots to fifth after losing to Villanova on Wednesday, its second defeat of the season.

Duke (21-4) heads the second five, followed by Kansas (21-4), Oklahoma State (20-5), Louisville (24-4) and Washington (23-4).

The Blue Devils jumped four spots while the Cowboys slid four positions after road loses to Nebraska and Kansas.

Arizona (24-5) is ranked 11th followed by Michigan State (20-5).

Gonzaga (22-4) and Syracuse (24-5) are tied for 13th and Utah (24-4) drops from 12th to 15th. The Bulldogs were 16th a week ago.

The rest of the top 20 includes Connecticut (19-6), Pacific (23-2), Charlotte (21-4), Alabama (21-6) and Oklahoma (21-6).

Cincinnati (22-6), Villanova (19-6), Wisconsin (18-7), Pittsburgh (18-7) and Southern Illinois (24-6) complete the poll.

Southern Illinois wrapped up its fourth straight Missouri Valley Conference regular season title with Saturday's 65-55 victory over Wichita State. The Salukis have been to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past three seasons and advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2002.

The Salukis replace Texas Tech, which was ranked 25th last week.
