Calvary, Dickau Garner More Post-Season Honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kans. - Gonzaga University had two players named to the All-District 14 first and second team Friday as selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Casey Calvary, who earlier this week was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year, was named to the fist team, while teammate Dan Dickau was a second-team selection.

Calvary averaged a team-leading 19.6 ppg and 6.4 rpg, while Dickau contributed 17.8 ppg and 6.7 assists/game in leading the Bulldogs to a 13-1 WCC record and the regular-season title.

This is the second straight year the Bulldogs have been had a player on the NABC District 14 squad, Matt Santangelo and Richie Frahm both making the team a year ago.

Joining Calvary on the first team were the Stanford University trio of Casey Jacobson, Jason Collins and Jarron Collins, as well as University of California standout Sean Lampley.

In addition to Dickau, the second team included Brian Jones of Santa Clara University, Bryan Bracey of the University of Oregon, Deandre Tanner of Oregon State University and Shawn Daniels of Utah State University.

Brandon Armstrong of WCC foe Pepperdine University was a first-team All-District 15 selection.

The Bulldogs open play Saturday at approximately 2 p.m. against Saint Mary's College in the first round of the West Coast Conference Tournament at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on the University of San Diego campus. The Bulldogs (21-6) are the top seed against the No. 8 Gaels (2-26).
