WCC Tournament Coming To Gonzaga
March 7, 2005
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Gonzaga University will host the 2006 West Coast Conference basketball tournament, with the University of Portland hosting the event for the 2007 season, WCC Commissioner Michael Gilleran announced Monday.
"We're excited. It's a great opportunity to showcase our university, the McCarthey Athletic Center and the city of Spokane," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said of the decision.
The Bulldogs will host the event March 2-6, 2006, with Portland staging the event March 1-5, 2007.
The women's tournament will begin March 2, with the men's tournament beginning March 3. The women's title game will be Sunday, March 5, with the men's final scheduled for Monday, March 6.
"Probably the main question on every fan's mind is tickets," Roth said. "The ticketing process is determined by the West Coast Conference. As soon as that information is available we will release it to all of our current season ticket holders and fans."
"We're excited that both Gonzaga University and the University of Portland will have the opportunity to host the conference's marquee event," said Gilleran. "Both Spokane and Portland will serve as excellent host sites for WCC basketball fans. The staffs at Gonzaga and Portland are both highly competent and experienced, and I'm confident they will manage an exciting event."
