Gonzaga Draws Louisville In Tucson As March Madness Begins
March 12, 2000
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University, the No. 10 seed, will face No. 7 University of Louisville Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at McKale Center on the University of Arizona campus.
Game time will be announced Monday when CBS Sports determines its broadcast schedule.
This is the second straight season the Bulldogs enter the NCAA Tournament as the 10th seed. Last season Gonazaga upset No. 7 University of Minnesota, No. 2 Stanford University and No. 6 University of Florida on its march to the Elite Eight. Gonzaga fell to top seeded and eventual national champion University of Connecticut in the West Regional finale.
The Gonzaga-Louisville winner will meet the survivor of No. 2 St. John's University and No. 15 Northern Arizona University in Saturday's second round. St. John's won the Big East Conference Tournament while NAU captured the Big Sky Conference tourney for the automatic bid.
This year's West Regional will be held in Albuquerque, NM, and be played at The Pit on the University of Nex Mexico campus.
