SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's basketball team (26-6) will play the first game of the second session Friday at 4:10 p.m. PDT in the NCAA First Round at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, N.Y.

The eighth-seeded Bulldogs will face No. 9 seed Florida State University, the winner facing either No. 1 seed Syracuse University or No. 16 University of Vermont who play Friday's late game following the GU-FSU contest. Sunday's winner advances to the West Regional in San Jose, Calif.

The other half of the Buffalo bracket which will feed into the East Regional in Syracuse, N.Y., will have No. 2 seed West Virginia University facing No. 15 Morgan State University Friday at 9:15 a.m. PDT followed by No. 7 Clemson University meeting No. 10 University of Missouri.

Friday's meeting between the Zags and the Seminoles will be the first time the two schools have met on the basketball court.

Florida State earned an at-large bid after finishing with a 22-9 overall mark and a 10-6 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Seminoles fell in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament to NC State 58-52. This is the 12th time in school history Florida State has appeared in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, FSU, the No. 5 seed, dropped a 61-59 overtime decision to the No. 12 seed University of Wisconsin in the first round of the tournament.

This season marks Gonzaga's 12-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its 13th overall. The Zags won the West Coast Conference regular season title, finishing 12-2, but fell in the WCC tournament championship to Saint Mary's College, 81-62.

This season also marks the first time in program history that the Bulldogs have been awarded an eight seed in the field of 65.
