  • The Bulldogs won an NCAA First Round Tournament game for the fifth time in the last six years with its 76-49 victory over Valparaiso, Thursday...lost to Wyoming in 2002 first round.

  • Bulldogs are 5-0 in KeyArena after knocking off Valparaiso...defeated Minnesota (75-63) and Stanford (82-74) in 1999 NCAA Tournament...defeated Washington (76-66), Dec. 13, 1999...defeated Missouri (87-80, OT), Dec. 13, 2003.

  • Blake Stepp's 202 assists in 2003-04 are second on the Bulldogs' single-season list...his 635 career assists are second all-time at Gonzaga...his 1,657 career points are fourth all-time at Gonzaga.

  • Cory Violette registered his eighth double-double of the season and 29th of his career with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Valparaiso.

  • Since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, only once has a No. 2 seed defeated a No. 10 seed in the second round and gone on to win the national championship (Kentucky-1998)...three other times, a No. 2 seed has defeated a No. 10 seed and finished national runner-up (Syracuse-1987, Arizona-2001 and Kansas-2003).

  • School record 21-game winning streak is currently the longest winning streak in the country.


  • Wolf Pack recorded first NCAA Tournament win in school history with 72-66 victory over No. 7 seed Michigan State, was first in nine tries for Nevada against the Big Ten.

  • In each of the last seven NCAA Tournaments, at least one No. 10 seed has advanced to the Sweet 16...since 1999, No. 10 seeds hold a 7-3 record against No. 2 seeds...two of the seven wins are courtesy of Gonzaga (1999, 2000)...the last Western Athletic Conference team to advance to the Sweet 16 was Tulsa in 2000.

  • Nevada can equal its school record for wins in a season (25), set in 1945-46, with a victory over Gonzaga.

  • Wolf Pack is 0-1 this season (lost 86-70 at Portland, Dec. 4) against West Coast Conference teams...Nevada is 143-208 all-time against current WCC teams.

  • Nevada is 20-1 when holding its opponent under 70 points...Wolf Pack's win over Michigan State was second straight game when trailing at halftime (defeated UTEP in WAC Tournament Championship)...Nevada lost its first eight outings this season when trailing at intermission.

  • Wolf Pack overcame a 16-point first half deficit against Michigan State for its biggest comeback win of the season.


  • Cardinal's 71-45 over Texas-San Antonio, Thursday marked 10th straight year Stanford has won a first round game in the NCAA Tournament...Cardinal is 19-11 all-time in NCAA least one Pac-10 school has advanced to the Sweet 16 in each of the last four years and 15 of the last 16 seasons.

  • A No. 1 seed has lost in the second round to a No. 8 seed eight times since 1985, the year the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 four of the eight cases, the No. 1 seed was in the West (Phoenix) region...a No. 1 seed has lost in the second round of the tournament in each even numbered year since Stanford lost to No. 8 North Carolina (60-53) in second round of 2000 NCAA Tournament at Birmingham, Ala.

  • In four of the last five years, Stanford has dropped its second round three of the four losses, Stanford was the higher seed...only second round win in the last five years was as a top-seed over No. 9 seed St. Joseph's (90-83) in 2001...Cardinal advanced to the regional final that season.

  • This year's Stanford squad is the third in school history to have 30 or more wins...Cardinal went 31-3 during 2000-01 season, while in 1997-98 the Cardinal went 30-5 en route to the Final Four.

  • Alabama has held its opponent under 50 percent field goal shooting in 26 of 30 games this season...Crimson Tide is 7-1 when shooting 50 percent or better from the field.

  • First meeting against a No. 1 ranked team since playing at Florida Feb. 8, 2003 (lost, 75-56).

  • Alabama will attempt to become the ninth No. 8 seed to upset a top seed since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985...Villanova is the only No. 8 seed to win the national championship after defeating a No. 1 seed (Michigan, 59-55, 1985)...only three of the No. 8 seeds to upset a No. 1 seed failed to advance to a regional final.
