Bulldogs' Frahm To Compete In Final Four Events

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Gonzaga University senior Richie Frahm will participate in a pair of events surrounding the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four this week in Indianapolis, IN.

Frahm, the West Coast Conference's top 3-point shooter this season, will be one of eight 3-point competitors in the Annual College Slam Dunk & Three-Point Basketball Championships presented by Mountain Dew. The competition will be held Thursday and will be televised on ESPN from 6-9 p.m. PST.

The Battle Ground, WA, native will be one of 12 seniors to compete in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Ocean Spray Roundball Challenge that will pit the NABC All-Stars against the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. The game will be Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse at 10 a.m. PST. Conseco Fieldhouse is home to the Indiana Pacers of the NBA. Highlights of the NABC All-Star game will be aired on FOX Sports Net at 5 p.m. PST Monday, one hour prior to the NCAA Final Four championship game.

Frahm, who hit a WCC-leading 40.2 percent of his treys this season (90-for-224) and is Gonzaga's all-time leader with 280 3-pointers, will be joined by some of college basketball's elite shooters. Pepe Sanchez (Temple), A.J. Guyton (Indiana), Scoonie Penn (Ohio State), Alex Jensen (Utah), Jason Hart (Syracuse), Eddie House (Arizona State) and Dan Langhi (Vanderbilt) will test their long-range skills with Frahm in the Men's Three-Point Shooting Championship presented by National Car Rental.

In addition to Frahm (6-5, 210, forward), the NABC All-Star roster includes Mark Ashman (6-10, 235, center, Dayton), Ryan Blackwell (6-7, 227, forward, Syracuse), Brian Cardinal (6-8, 245, forward, Purdue), Eric Coley (6-5, 210, forward, Tulsa), Kevin Freeman (6-7, 235, forward, Connecticut), Nate Johnson (6-6, 215, forward, Louisville), Kenyon Jones (6-10, 270, center, San Francisco), Alex Scales (6-4, 185, guard, Oregon), Bootsy Thornton (6-4, 195, guard, St. John's), Tim Winn (5-10, 175, guard, St. Bonaventure) and Sanchez (6-4, 195, guard).

Frahm, who helped Gonzaga to a second straight Sweet 16 berth with wins over Louisville and St. John's prior to falling to Purdue, is the third Bulldog to play in the NABC event. John Stockton (1984) and Bakari Hendrix (1998) were also selected to the elite team.

Jim Calhoun of UConn will coach the All-Stars.
