Pangos Wins College Slam Three-Point Championship
INDIANAPOLIS – Gonzaga’s Kevin Pangos wowed the capacity crowd at Hinkle Fieldhouse on his way to victory in the 2015 State Farm College Slam Three-Point Championship on Thursday evening in Indianapolis.
The Zag senior scored 23 points in each of the first two rounds and knocked down 22 in the final round against homecourt favorite Butler’s Alex Barlow and UConn’s Ryan Boatright. In the three rounds, Pangos knocked down 14 of 15 moneyballs (the fifth ball on the rack).
His 23 in the first two rounds was the highest total achieved by any shooter in the competition. More than 9,100 fans were in attendance.In addition to the three in the finals, the men’s field included Notre Dame’s Patrick Connaughton, Dayton’s Jordan Sibert, Marquette’s Matt Carlino, Villanova’s Darrun Hilliard and UC Davis’ Corey Hawkins.
