Anthony's 2008 Student-Athlete Scholarship Benefit

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University and Anthony's Restaurant joined together for the third annual Student-Athlete Scholarship Benefit Dinner and Auction May 1 at Anthony's at Spokane Falls. Approximately 200 Gonzaga supporters gathered to celebrate GU athletics as well as the accomplishments of Jim Etter, this year's guest of honor. Etter, who is a GU alumnus and played baseball for the Zags from 1956 to 1958 has been a vital part of the Gonzaga and Spokane communities supporting charities and organization such as the Morning Star Boys Ranch, Spokane Catholic Charities and the Boy Scouts.

The Gonzaga Athletic Department has raised almost $100,000 through this event since its inception. All of the profits go directly back to the 300 student-athletes who participate in athletics at GU.

Anthony's at Spokane Falls opened in 2004 and has teamed with Gonzaga University as a corporate partner since joining the Spokane community. Anthony's donated their restaurant, service and food for the evening so that funds raised could go toward the support of Gonzaga student-athletes.
