Bulldogs Land 6-7 Transfer Drew Barham From Memphis
SPOKANE, Wash. - Drew Barham, a redshirt junior at the University of Memphis this past season, will transfer to Gonzaga University this fall, Bulldog head coach Mark Few confirmed Monday.
The native of Memphis, Tenn., and graduate of Christian Brothers High, Barham played in 49 games with 11 starts for the Tigers. He averaged 2.0 ppg and 1.1 rpg while averaging 6.0 minutes/game. He had career highs of 13 points and 9 rebounds against Centenary as a sophomore, and had a game-high 2 steals on three occasions, the last against Gonzaga in a 2011 game against the Bulldogs in the Spokane Arena. He redshirted this past season.
"He can really shoot and has a good feel for the game," Few said. "The redshirt year at Memphis really helped him grow as a player. He just came off a seven-game tour of Germany and Poland with Athletes in Action where he played very well."
Barham, a 6-7, 195-pound wing, earned a 4.0 grade-point-average for the spring semesters in 2010 and 2011 and has been named to the Dean's List all six of his semesters since enrolling at Memphis in the fall of 2009. He was a two-time recipient of the Conference USA Academic Medal for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years, and was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for each of the past three years. He graduated with a degree in Sports and Leisure Management and will enroll in a graduate program at Gonzaga.
Barham has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
