Bulldogs Dot 2013 Orlando NBA Summer League Rosters

            SPOKANE, Wash. – Three former Gonzaga University players dot the rosters for the NBA Summer League in Orlando, Fla., July 7-12.

            Kelly Olynyk, the 13th pick in the NBA Draft by Dallas who then traded him to Boston, is on the Celtics roster. Steven Gray, a 2011 graduate, and Micah Downs, a senior in 2009, are both with the Indiana Pacers.

            Action starts Sunday at the practice facility of the Orlando Magic. Boston faces Orlando at 8 a.m. PDT while Indiana faces Oklahoma City at noon PDT. Ten teams are participating in the Orlando Summer League.

            Olynyk, who became Gonzaga’s highest draft pick since Austin Daye at No. 15 in 2009, was on almost everybody’s All-America team this past season and was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year. He averaged 17.8 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.7 assists/game and 1.1 blocks/game in helping Gonzaga to a 32-3 overall record, a 16-0 WCC mark, the WCC Tournament title and a 15th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

            Gray spent the past season playing for Roanne in France where he averaged 9.2 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 1.9 assists/game and 0.9 steals/game in 28.5 minutes/game.

            Downs, who was named the WCC Tournament MVP in 2009, played in the NBA D-League for the Maine Red Claws this past season. He averaged 35.1 minutes/game, starting 43 of 48 games. He averaged 16.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 2.4 assists/game.

            The 22-team Las Vegas Summer League will be held July 12-22 with a new twist added this summer. All 22 teams will play three games to determine seeding into a 22-team double-elimination tournament that will crown a champion July 22. Tournament play will be held July 17-22.
