Former Zags Preparing For Start Of Las Vegas Summer League
SPOKANE, Wash. – The NBA Summer League in Orlando, Fla., is in full swing and the Las Vegas Summer League begins Friday with a scattering of Gonzaga University players expected to be on hand.
Kelly Olynyk, who just completed his rookie season with the Boston Celtics, scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds as the Celtics took their Orlando Summer League opener 85-77 over Miami this past weekend. Olynyk went 8-for-17 from the field in what is expected to be his only Orlando appearance.
No fewer than six Bulldogs are scheduled to be in Las Vegas as teams are still putting their final touches on rosters prior to Friday’s opening games.
Sam Dower Jr. is expected to play for the Toronto Raptors, Steven Gray for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Matt Bouldin is on the NBA D-League Select Team and David Stockton and Elias Harris are scheduled to be teammates with the Phoenix Suns.
This will be the fifth year the NBA D-League Select Team has participated. Bouldin is one of three members of the 2014 NBA D-League champion Fort Wayne (Ind.) Mad Ants named to the Select Team.
Ten teams participate in the Orlando Summer League with 24 teams competing in the Las Vegas Summer League.
