Pangos Helps Lead Canada To 3-0 World University Games Mark

            KAZAN, Russia – Gonzaga University junior Kevin Pangos scored seven of his nine points in the last five minutes and the Canadian Development Men’s National Team (DMNT) improved its record to 3-0 at the 2013 FISU Summer Universiade Tuesday with a 92-83 win over Australia.

             Pangos also dished out three assists in the final five minutes. For the game he was 2-for-7 from the field including 1-for-4 from 3-point range, went 4-for-4 from the free throw line, handed out four assists and had a steal in 20 minutes of action.

            The native of Holland Landing, Ontario, has started all three games in the 27th Universiade, commonly known as the World University Games.

            The Canadian DMNT opened the tourney with an 84-69 victory over Sweden and followed that with a 137-43 rout of United Arab Emirates (UAE).

            Pangos played 20 minutes against Sweden and scored 12 points, going 4-for-9 from the field, 4-for-5 from the line, grabbed three rebounds and had two assists and a steal. Against UAE he played 10 minutes, scored two points and had three rebounds, two assists and three steals. Canada held a 58-19 edge in rebounding and scored 78 points in the paint.

            Canada will face the Czech Republic (2-1) Thursday. The DMNT will finish its preliminary round schedule with a match-up against the United States on Friday.
