Battle of Bulldogs Pits Zags At Butler For ESPN College GameDay

BRISTOL, Conn. - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team will be a part of ESPN's College GameDay Covered by State Farm this season for the third time since 2005, but for the first time the Bulldogs will be on the road.

Gonzaga's game with Butler University from historic Hinkle Fieldhouse Jan. 19 will be the showcase event for College GameDay in the battle of Bulldogs. ESPN's Saturday Primetime Presented by DIRECTV telecast will air at 7 a.m. Pacific Time with the evening show leading into the game televised at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. Game time is 6 p.m. Pacific Time.

Gonzaga has hosted College GameDay twice, the first Feb. 11, 2005, when the Zags topped Stanford University 80-76 at the McCarthey Athletic Center. College GameDay returned to Spokane and the Gonzaga campus Feb. 7, 2009. The morning portion of College GameDay was aired from the McCarthey Athletic Center while the evening show and game against the University of Memphis was played at the Spokane Arena. Memphis prevailed 68-50.

"To be a part of College GameDay is one of the great experiences in collegiate basketball, and we are honored to be a part of it again," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said. "Hinkle Fieldhouse is a great basketball facility with a lot of history behind it. It will be a really, really tough game, but we are looking forward to the challenge and for it to be a part of College GameDay makes it even more special."

For the ninth year, Rece Davis will serve as host for College GameDay, and will be joined by analysts Jay Bilas, Digger Phelps and Jalen Rose to preview all the day's action and discuss the biggest storylines in college basketball. Rose joins the College GameDay crew, replacing Hubert Davis behind the desk. Rose will be a featured analyst on GameDay, as well as additional college basketball studio programming and games. Rose has been ESPN NBA analyst, primarily as part of the network's studio coverage since 2007, and will continue NBA studio analysis during the Playoffs.
