Maui Invitational Tickets Go On Sale Wednesday At Noon
MAUI, Hawaii – The EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Hosted by Chaminade announced tickets will go on sale via the tournament’s web site on Wednesday at noon Pacific Time as Gonzaga University’s men’s basketball team makes its fourth appearance in the event.
This year’s Championship Round will take place Nov. 25-27 on the beautiful island of Maui. Joining the Bulldogs will be the University of Arkansas, Baylor University, University of California, Dayton University, University of Minnesota, Syracuse University and host Chaminade University.
Gonzaga’s first-round opponent will be the Dayton Flyers in the 9 p.m. PST nightcap. Gonzaga is in the same half of the bracket as Baylor and Chaminade which will meet in the game prior to the Gonzaga-Dayton contest.
The Gonzaga-Dayton game matches a pair of teams looking to become two-time champions of the vent. The Zags won the 2009 title as Steven Gray and Matt Bouldin were named co-MVP as they led the squad to wins over the University of Colorado, University of Wisconsin and the University of Cincinnati. Dayton claimed the 2003 crown.
The Bulldogs will be trying to become the seventh team to win two or more titles. Duke University leads the way with five, the University of North Carolina has hoisted the trophy three times while the University of Michigan, University of Connecticut and Syracuse University have each won a pair of Maui titles.
There is no other experience like the 2,400-seat Lahaina Civic Center that annually plays host to the best teams in Division I basketball. All-tournament reserved tickets are good for entry to all 12 tournament games. All-day reserved tickets are good for entry to all four tournament games on a particular day. Booster tickets will be available for all eight participating teams and are good for entry to all three tournament games in which a particular school will participate. Tickets will also be made available to the Tip-Off Banquet on Sunday, Nov. 24 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. All participating teams attend the banquet, which features speeches from the participating coaches and Hawaiian group performances.
ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will offer live, high-definition television coverage of all 12 Championship Round games. Games will also be broadcast live on the WatchESPN mobile app and WatchESPN.com.
This year’s field has combined for 132 NCAA Tournament appearances, 79 conference championships, 18 Final Fours and three national championships. Four of this year’s participants – Syracuse, Gonzaga, California and Minnesota - won NCAA Tournament games in 2013 and Syracuse earned its fifth Final Four appearance by winning the East Regional. Additionally, Baylor won the 2013 NIT Championship.
The four recently announced Mainland Teams – Coastal Carolina, Louisiana, Oakland and St. Francis Brooklyn – will participate in the Regional Games at Coastal Carolina University from Nov. 23-24. Prior to the Championship Round and Regional Games, the Island Teams and Mainland Teams will face-off in seven Opening Games at the Island Teams home arenas from Nov. 15-19. Gonzaga will host Oakland Nov. 17.
