Germany Routed By Australia In FIBA World Championship

TURKEY - After three days of offensive struggle, Australia finally found the rim in order to dominate Germany 78-43 Monday at the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
Gonzaga University sophomore Elias Harris played 24 minutes, went 0-for-3 from the field including a trey attempt and grabbed five rebounds for Germany.
Germany fell to 1-2 in Group A and is tied with Angola. Argentina is atop Group A at 3-0.
On day one the Australians struggled against Jordan and had an offensive burst early in the second game against Argentina, but this time after falling down 2-0, they made a 12-0 run to go up 12-2 to start their dominance.
At the same time that they were scoring easily, they imposed a physical defense over the Germans and held them to seven first-quarter points in racing to a 19-7 lead. Germany's 12-point fourth quarter was its biggest output of the day.
The Germans didn't have any liberties offensively and continued to struggle, meanwhile Australia took advantage of the turnovers that they forced to score 11 points and dominate the first half 38-20. Patrick Mills led Australia with 10 points, all of them in the second quarter.
Australia placed the game out of reach in the third quarter by finishing with a 12-1 run in the final three minutes. At the end of three quarters Australia was up 62-31.
Patrick Mills led Australia with 16 points and 7 assists while Aleksandar Maric netted 15.
Former Bulldog J.P. Batista is playing for Brazil, which missed a major upset in falling 70-68 to the United States Monday. Batista has played in all three games for 2-1 Brazil in Group B. He has 11 points while playing 39 minutes. He played six minutes against the U.S., missed his only shot and grabbed a rebound. The U.S. leads Group B at 3-0.
Germany will return to action Wednesday against Angola.
