Gourde Undergoes Surgery To Repair Meniscus
Sept. 5, 2000
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University sophomore forward Zach Gourde underwent surgery Tuesday morning at Spokane's Sacred Heart Medical Center to repair a torn meniscus of his right knee.
Gourde injured the knee while playing basketball last week.
Bulldogs trainer Steve DeLong said the surgery, performed by Dr. Arnold Peterson, went well and a full recovery is expected.
"Zach can begin rehabilitation immediately, although his range of motion will be limited until further in the healing process," DeLong said. "He could be sidelined for up to 10 weeks, but it is all dependent on how fast he heals."
The native of Vancouver, Wash., averaged 7.7 ppg and 3.4 rpg last season as a redshirt freshman.
The Bulldogs begin practice Oct. 13 with Midnight in the Kennel. Gonzaga's first exhibition game is Nov. 4 against the Yakima Sun Kings. The Bulldogs open the regular season Nov. 17 at Eastern Washington University.
