Sept. 6, 2005
SPOKANE, Wash. - A Spokane-only pre-sale of tickets for the third annual Comcast "Battle in Seattle" will begin Saturday and run until Sept. 16, promoter John Hines, director of Northwest Sports, Inc., announced today.
Gonzaga University and Oklahoma State University will meet Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. in Seattle's KeyArena. The previous two contests have seen Gonzaga defeat the University of Missouri and the University of Massachusetts. The Gonzaga-OSU game will be a re-match of last year's Touchstone Energy All-College Classic held in Oklahoma City, Okla., the Bulldogs downing the then third-ranked Cowboys 78-75.
Tickets for this year's game will be available at all Spokane area Ticketmaster locations beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the pre-sale concluding Sept. 16 at 10 p.m. Tickets for lower bowl seating in Seattle's KeyArena are priced at $62 and $48, while the upper bowl pricing is set for $24 and $18. There will be a limited number of courtside seats available for $100. Ticketmaster is located in all Spokane-area Fred Meyer stores.
Also on Saturday, all Spokane-area Papa Murphy's stores will have $3 off coupons for all upper bowl seats. As part of the Papa Murphy's promotion fans can also enter to win an all expense paid trip for four to this year's Comcast "Battle in Seattle." See the official contest rules for further details.
This year's match-up will feature legendary OSU head coach Eddie Sutton and Gonzaga's Mark Few. Sutton is 781-299 in 35 seasons, including the last 15 years at OSU. Few's record is 159-37 in six seasons as head coach of the Bulldogs, ranking him second on the all-time NCAA Division I list for wins by a 6th-year head coach. Few has also bee named the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year five straight seasons. Each team features a John Wooden top 50 pre-season finalist. Gonzaga's Adam Morrison and OSU's James OnCurry each earned a spot for this year's award.
