Battle In Seattle Pre-Sale Starts Saturday in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. - Pre-sale tickets for the State Farm Battle in Seattle Dec. 17 between Gonzaga University and the University of Arizona will be available to Spokane residents and to members of the Battle in Seattle mailing list beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. PDT.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.battleinseattle.com, www.ticketmaster.com or through any Ticketmaster location.

Gonzaga men's basketball season ticket holders and Bulldog club members can still purcahse tickets through the GU Ticket Office until Oct. 1.

Idol Sports also announced this year's match-up will be nationally televised on CBS at 1 p.m. PST. This year's game will mark the fourth time this annual event has been on CBS, including Gonzaga's inaugural regular-season national appearance on CBS when the Zags defeated the University of Missouri in the 2003 Battle in Seattle. CBS also broadcast the games in 2005 against Oklahoma State University and 2008 against the University of Connecticut.

Arizona returns three starters from the team that won 30 games and reached the Elite Eight a season ago. The Wildcats nearly reached the Final Four, falling to eventual national champion UConn two points, 65-63.

Gonzaga will be led by All-West Coast Conference senior center Robert Sacre and WCC Newcomer of the Year Marquise Carter. Sacre averaged 12.5 ppg and led the conference with 66 blocked shots last year.  Carter was named the Zappos.com WCC Tournament MVP as he shot 63% in his final four WCC games and averaged 14.5 points per game in the WCC Tournament.

By sharing the 2011 WCC crown with Saint Mary's, the Zags have won or shared  11 straight WCC regular-season titles, the longest active conference title streak in the nation. Mark Few and company are just two seasons away from matching UCLA's 13 Pacific-10 Conference (now Pacific-12 Conference) titles from 1967-1979 as the longest streak in NCAA history.

The Seattle event will be the fourth all time meeting between the teams, with Arizona winning all three of the previous contests.
