ESPN To Televise Minimum Of 17 Zags Men's Hoops Games

            SAN BRUNO, Calif. – No fewer than 17 Gonzaga University men’s basketball games will be aired on the ESPN family of stations according to the schedule released Tuesday by ESPN and the West Coast Conference.

            As part of their long-term relationship, the WCC and ESPN have announced a minimum of 36 men's basketball games involving WCC schools will air nationally on the ESPN networks this season, including additional exposure during the 2014 West Coast Conference Basketball Championship in Las Vegas.

            Nine of the Gonzaga broadcasts are WCC games, beginning with the season opener Dec. 28 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time when Santa Clara University visits the McCarthey Athletic Center. Other Gonzaga conference games on ESPN will be Jan. 2 at home against Saint Mary’s College (ESPN2, 6 p.m.), Jan. 9 at the University of Portland (ESPNU, 8 p.m.), Jan. 23 at home to face the University of San Diego (ESPNU, 7 p.m.), Jan. 25 at home with BYU (ESPN2, 7 p.m.), Feb. 20 at BYU (ESPN or ESPN2, 6 p.m. PT), Feb. 22 at San Diego (ESPN2, 9 p.m.), Feb. 27 at University of the Pacific (ESPNU, 7 p.m.) and March 1 at Saint Mary’s (ESPN2, 7 p.m.

            Non-conference games involving the Bulldogs on ESPN are Colorado State University Nov. 11 in the ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon from the McCarthey Athletic Center at 6 p.m. on ESPNU, all three games in the EA Sports Maui Invitational Nov. 25-27 including the tourney opener against Dayton University Nov. 25 at 9 p.m. PT on ESPN2, Dec. 7 at home against New Mexico State University (ESPNU, 8 p.m.), Dec. 10 at West Virginia University (ESPN, 6 p.m. PT), Dec. 21 against Kansas State University in the Wichita Wildcat Classic at INTRUST Bank Arena (ESPN2, 12:30 p.m. PT) and Feb. 8 at Memphis University for ESPN College Game Day on ESPN at 6 p.m. PT.

            In addition, WCC basketball will be featured on ESPN’s popular Championship Week coverage in 2014, with five live telecasts from Las Vegas: two quarterfinal games (Saturday, March 8, ESPN2), the WCC semifinals (Monday, March 10, ESPN and ESPN2) and the championship game Tuesday, March 11 (ESPN).
