'Battle In Seattle' Ticket Pre-Sale Begins Wednesday

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men’s basketball fans can purchase pre-sale tickets beginning Wednesday for this year’s State Farm®  Battle in Seattle game against the University of South Alabama at KeyArena.

The Bulldogs and Jaguars will square off in the 11th annual game Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

Bulldog Club members were offered a pre-sale opportunity earlier this summer through the Gonzaga ticket office.

Zags fans can qualify for pre-sale tickets by going to the game’s website by clicking here and signing up for e-mail updates, liking the game’s Facebook page or by visiting Spokane Ticketmaster locations. General public tickets go on sale on Friday and will be available through BattleInSeattle.com, all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster.com, the KeyArena box office or by calling 800-745-3000.

Gonzaga is coming off a 32-3 season which saw the Zags ranked first in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Bulldogs advanced to a 15th straight NCAA Tournament last season.

South Alabama will be led by new head coach Matthew Graves  who spent the past 10 seasons as an assistant coach at Butler. Graves will be joined by former Butler guard Darnell Archey who accepted an assistant coaching position on the USA staff.

The game marks just the third all-time meeting between the two teams, and the second meeting in Seattle, with Gonzaga winning both previous contests. The teams last played in the 1999 Hawkeye Classic in Iowa City, Iowa with the Zags winning, 80-63. The first meeting came during the 1996 U.S. West Tournament in Seattle where the Bulldogs knocked off the Jaguars, 60-43.

Gonzaga is 6-4 in 10 previous Battle in Seattle games, which have regularly been among the highest-attended college basketball games in the state of Washington. The 2008 game against the University of Connecticut Huskies set the state’s attendance record for a regular-season college basketball game with a sold out crowd of 16,763.
