Pendergraft Returns To Zags As Director Of Athletic Giving

            SPOKANE, Wash. - He'll be new to the position but he's no stranger to Gonzaga University as David Pendergraft has accepted the position of Director of Athletic Giving for the athletic department, athletic director Mike Roth announced Friday.

            "David will be a great fit for not only Gonzaga athletics but for the entire university community," Roth said. "He is loyal to Gonzaga, already knows a lot about our fans and donors and will be effective in stewarding new benefactors as we move forward to make Bulldog athletics better. We have several ongoing projects we are currently raising funds to complete, and we'll have new projects to focus on in the coming months which David will play a big part in developing."

            Pendergraft has also been active in the Spokane community. He has been a member of Leadership Northwest, a Christian non-profit organization, since 2009 and is the youngest of 10 board members who work with business leaders, local government and school officials to align community concerns and activities.

            "I cannot begin to express my excitement about the opportunity to work for the university and athletic department that has helped shape who I am today. I have so much passion for Gonzaga athletics and getting a chance to work with a talented team that shares this passion will be a great experience," Pendergraft said of returning to Gonzaga in his new role.

            Pendergraft, a native of Brewster, Wash., where he helped the Bears to back-to-back   Washington State Class A championships in 2003 and '04, earned four varsity letters for the Bulldogs from 2005-08. He was named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman team in 2005 and to WCC All-Tournament team in 2007 He capped his career by being named to the All-WCC first team as a senior in 2008, starting all 33 games for the Bulldogs in a 25-8 campaign.

            He earned his B.A. in philosophy and minors in English studies and religious studies.

            Pendergraft is married to former Gonzaga women's soccer player Lauren Zuckerman, their wedding taking place on the floor of the McCarthey Athletic Center in August, 2010.
