SPOKANE, Wash. -- In front of a capacity crowd at Kraziness in the Kennel on Saturday, the Gonzaga men's basketball team showed its depth, athleticism, and an impressive group of newcomers.

Fans were treated to a full day of action, beginning with inflatables and other activities at the Pre-Kraziness Carnival on the McCarthey Athletic Center South Lawn. The show moved inside at 4 p.m. with player and coach introductions and highlight reels that preceded the main attraction.

A three-point shootout started things off inside the McCarthey Athletic Center. Jordan Mathews knocked down 14 threes in the first round and 12 threes in the second round to defeat Dustin Triano's six. Zach Collins' team defeated Johnathan Williams' team in the skills competition finals.

Head coach Mark Few then split his teams into two squads for a 20-minute scrimmage. The Red squad, led by Bryan Alberts' 13 points, took a 52-40 victory. Killian Tillie and Przemek Karnowski added 11 and 10 points for the winning side. Silas Melson dished out four assists and Jeremy Jones had a game-high three steals.

On the Blue team, Nigel Williams-Goss had 11 points and Mathews chipped in 10 points, including 8-for-8 shooting from the free-throw line. Williams-Goss added three assists. Collins led all players with seven rebounds.

Gonzaga opens the season with an exhibition against West Georgia on Nov. 5. The first regular season game kicks off three consecutive home games and is on Nov. 11 at 6 p.m., against Utah Valley.
