Basketball Teams To Showcase Squads

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's and women's basketball teams will give fans their first look at the 2006 Bulldogs in a pair of upcoming events open to the public.
"Kraziness in The Kennel" is slated for Saturday, Oct. 22, in the McCarthey Athletic Center. This year's event is free and open to the public with festival seating available on a on a first come, first serve basis. The doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and the 2006 men's basketball team will be introduced at 11 a.m. The men will scrimmage and play two 20-minute running-clock halves. The 2006 Bulldog women's team will be introduced at halftime of the men's scrimmage.
The Bulldog women will hold a Blue-White scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. in the McCarthey Athletic Center. The event will be free and open to the public with festival seating again available on a first come, first serve basis. The doors will open at 4:30 p.m.
"These are two good events that give fans a chance to see our teams prior to the start of the season," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said.
The Bulldog men are favored to win their sixth straight West Coast Conference regular-season title. Gonzaga is in search of its eighth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The exhibition season for the men opens Nov. 5 when they play Lewis-Clark State College at 5 p.m. in the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Bulldogs host UC San Diego on Nov.12 in their second exhibition at 7 p.m.
Gonzaga's women will also have a pair of home exhibition tilts. The Bulldogs host Concordia College of California on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. and Seattle Pacific University on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Gonzaga, which went a perfect 14-0 in claiming the WCC title a year ago, made a second straight trip to the Women's National Invitational Tournament last season. Gonzaga was picked to finish second this season behind Loyola Marymount University in the WCC pre-season coaches poll.
