Men's Basketball Ranked 23rd In Associated Press Preseason Poll
AP Top 25 Preseason Men's Basketball Poll
NEW YORK - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team is ranked 23rd in The Associated Press preseason Top 25.
The Bulldogs received 283 points and are sandwiched between No. 22 Marquette University and No. 24 University of California.
No. 14 Xavier University and No. 16 University of Arizona are two ranked teams on Gonzaga's schedule dotting the preseason rankings. The Bulldogs will host Arizona in the Battle in Seattle Dec. 17 in KeyArena and travel to Xavier for a New Year's Eve contest.
Michigan State University, Butler University and West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's College were in the "others receiving votes" category. MSU visits the McCarthey Athletic Center Dec. 10 with Butler paying a visit Dec. 20. The Bulldogs and Gaels are again figured to battle for the WCC regular-season and tournament titles.
The Bulldogs began last season ranked 12th in the AP preseason poll.
The University of North Carolina was voted No. 1 for the eighth time in the preseason rankings since the poll started in 1961-62, the Tar Heels receiving 62 of the 65 first-place votes.
