Men's Basketball To Play LCSC

Nov. 8, 2004

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team will face Lewis-Clark State College in an exhibition game Sunday at 2 p.m. in the McCarthey Athletic Center.

The Bulldogs had originally planned to hold a Blue-White game, but when the opportunity arose to play the Warriors the change was made.

Season ticket holders will be admitted to the game with "GAME 3" tickets that were part of the season ticket package. Those tickets say Blue-White on them but will be honored on Sunday.

"We believe we get more out of playing another team rather than playing against ourselves," head coach Mark Few said. "When we were able to move the Blue-White game to a contest against LCSC we didn't hesitate to make the change."

Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth echoed Few's sentiment.

"We think it's better for our fans," Roth said. "Now they have somebody to cheer for on Sunday rather than cheering for two teams of Bulldogs. We expect another great crowd like we had last Friday for our exhibition opener. Our goal was to move the atmosphere from The Kennel into the McCarthey Athletic Center, and if Friday was an indication then I think we've been successful in accomplishing that goal. We're appreciative of LCSC head coach George Pfeifer for agreeing to play this game."

The Bulldogs opened the exhibition season last Friday in the new 6,000-seat McCarthey Athletic Center with a 114-86 win over Emporia State University.
