Bulldog Basketball Returns To KHQ/FSN
Nov. 9, 2006
SPOKANE, Wash. - Thirteen is a lucky number for Gonzaga University as KHQ-TV in Spokane and FSN will once again televise Bulldog basketball games this season, the 13-game television schedule announced Thursday.
The first broadcast will be Friday when Gonzaga opens the regular season at home against Eastern Washington University at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on KHQ-TV and on FOX College Sports, the latter available only through certain cable companies and tier subscription service throughout the United States. The game will also be tape delayed beginning at 7 p.m. throughout the five-state region of FSN - Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. The tape delay version will also be available in Spokane and surrounding areas.
"We continue to have one of the best basketball television packages in the country," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said.
Greg Heister returns for his sixth season calling the television action. He'll be joined by Craig Ehlo who rejoins the broadcasts after working the past two seasons on the FSN broadcasts of Seattle Sonics basketball. Ehlo worked two seasons on the Gonzaga broadcasts prior to doing the Sonics games.
"We have two people who know our program very well working the broadcasts," Roth said.
The next broadcast following Friday's opener is Nov. 19 when the University of Texas San Antonio visits the McCarthey Athletic Center for a 5 p.m. contest.
This year's schedule has KHQ-TV/FSN televising nine home games and four road games.
Fans in the Seattle market would have the opportunity to watch a unique double-header on Friday. The Seattle Sonics are at the Charlotte Bobcats featuring former Bulldog Adam Morrison in a game to be broadcast on FSN at 4 p.m. The Gonzaga-EWU tape delay begins at 7 p.m.
The remainder of Gonzaga's television schedule is expected to be announced soon.
