Bulldogs Home Sunday To Face Oakland Of Rochester, Michigan
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University’s men’s basketball team remains home Sunday to face Oakland University in an Opening Game of the 2013 EA Sports Maui Invitational.
Game time is 5 p.m. in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
Each of the seven mainland teams competing in the 30th annual Maui Invitational are hosting games. Gonzaga leaves Saturday for Maui and will play Dayton in the Nov. 25 nightcap of the first day of action.
Oakland is relatively new, founded in 1955. The school is only 7-years older than Gonzaga head coach Mark Few, while Oakland head coach Greg Kampe was 2-years-old when his current employer was founded.
Gonzaga is averaging 96.5 ppg and allowing 68.5 ppg for a scoring margin of +20.0 through the first two games of the season following a 100-76 season-opening win over Bryant University and a 93-61 victory over Colorado State last Monday.
Sunday’s game will be the fourth of the year for Oakland and their third against a ranked opponent as Gonzaga is ranked 15th in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls. Oakland opened the season against No. 12/11 North Carolina followed by a game against No. 24/24 UCLA. Oakland lost at unranked California Friday.
