Doors Open Early For Men's Hoops
Nov. 18, 2004
SPOKANE, Wash. - The doors for Gonzaga University men's basketball games will open 90 minutes prior to tip-off this season, Bulldog athletic director Mike Roth announced on Thursday.
Roth said increased attendance and the patron-friendly concourse of the new McCarthey Athletic Center prompted the decision.
"We thought it would be a convenience for our fans to get here early and avoid the rush," Roth said. "With a new 6,000-seat facility, an expanded concessions menu and more comfortable seating we decided to let the fans in earlier than in past seasons."
Thus, the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday when the Bulldogs host Portland State University in the inaugural regular-season game in the McCarthey Athletic Center. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
Gonzaga officials said Friday's game against PSU and Sunday's 2 p.m. matinee against the University of Montana are sold out.
