Bulldogs Fall To 18th In ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Basketball Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Gonzaga University fell six spots to 18th in this week's ESPN/USA Today men's basketball poll released Monday.

The Bulldogs (2-1) lost to San Diego State University 79-76 at home this past Tuesday, the Aztecs entering the poll at No. 22 this week.

Gonzaga gets a stiff test Monday night as they face fourth-ranked Kansas State University in the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic Championship Round at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. The Wildcats (3-0) fell one spot in this week's rankings.

Duke University remained atop the poll, receiving 29 of 31 first-place votes. Duke is in the other half of the bracket in Kansas City, taking on Marquette University in the opening game Monday.

Michigan State University received the other two first-place votes to remain second. Ohio State Univesity jumped two spots to third with Pittsburgh fifth.

In addition to SDSU, three other teams on the Bulldog schedule dot the Top 25. Baylor University is 13th, the University of Memphis is 15th and the University of Illinois is 19th. Pending the outcome of Monday's games in Kansas City, the Bulldogs could face No. 1 Duke on Tuesday in either the championship game or the consolation game.
