Bulldogs Face Wildcats For Old Spice Classic Championship
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Gonzaga University will face Davidson College in search of its second Old Spice Classic title in four years Sunday at 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
The Zags, who downed Oklahoma State University, the University of Maryland and the University of Tennessee on their way to the '08 crown, have defeated Clemson University and the University of Oklahoma to advance to Sunday's title game. Gonzaga is 5-0 in Old Spice Classic play.
Sunday's game will be the third meeting between Gonzaga and Davidson since 2008. The 10th-seeded Wildcats upset the 7th-seeded Bulldogs 82-78 in a 2008 NCAA First Round game in Davidson's backyard of Raleigh, N.C. The Bulldogs got a little revenge on Dec. 12, 2010, when they took a 103-91 victory in The Battle in Seattle at KeyArena. GU's Elias Harris had 27 points in the last meeting and Kelly Olynyk played 15 minutes but did not score.
