Bulldogs Face Western Michigan Saturday In Spokane Arena
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga will take a short "road" trip less than two miles from campus Saturday when the Bulldogs host Western Michigan University in the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Classic.
Tip- off is 1 p.m. It will be the fifth time in the last six years the event has been staged in the downtown Spokane Arena, the game being skipped in the 2008 season.

Saturday will be the first meeting between Gonzaga and Western Michigan University.
Western Michigan University is a member of the MAC (Mid-American Conference) which was established in 1946. The Bulldogs have played three present members of the MAC, with the last meeting against a MAC school in Portland, Ore., in the 2009 NCAA Tournament First Round when the Zags topped Akron University 77-64. Gonzaga downed Ohio University 83-85 in the first round of the 1999 Rainbow Classic in Honolulu and lost 86-81 at the University of Toledo Dec. 21, 1964.
Both Gonzaga and Western Michigan University were highly touted by the coaches of their respective leagues in the preseason polling. Gonzaga was picked to win a 12th straight West Coast Conference crown while WMU was selected to win the West Division of the Mid-American Conference.
