Zags 18th In ESPN/USA Today Poll; Stand Pat At No. 19 In AP
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team moved up one spot to 18th in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 and stood pat at No. 19 in the Associated Press rankings.
The undefeated Bulldogs (4-0) downed Western Michigan University 78-58 last Saturday in the Spokane Arena in the Ronald McDonald House Charities Classic.
Gonzaga will get some stern tests in the next two weeks, hosting the University of Notre Dame (5-2) Wednesday, heading to the University of Illinois (6-0) Saturday and then coming home Dec. 10 to face Michigan State University (4-2). Illinois and Michigan State are receiving votes in both polls this week.
The University of Kentucky moved into the top spot in both polls this week after previous No. 1 University of North Carolina lost to unranked UNLV. Kentucky visits UNC Saturday.
Xavier University (4-0), which looms on the Bulldogs schedule New Year's Eve in Cincinnati, is 11th in both polls.
